Zone 16 Riders handle muddy conditions at PCA NSW Show Jumping Championships

On the weekend of the 10-11 of July, 7 riders from zone 16 travelled to Kendall Showground in Camden Haven for the annual PCA NSW State Showjumping competition. Shannon Breen, Lara Polkinhorne, Ellie and Patrick Miller, Lee Yonge, Sigi Schneider and myself (Rachel French), all made the long 8 hour + trip to compete in the very muddy and wet conditions that awaited as we arrived.

Already feeling slightly uneasy about the present conditions of the showground, we were visited on Friday night by a huge downpour that left the ground even more wet, and very unpleasant for the next two days of competition. Thanking my lucky stars I had packed the biggest studs I owned, and 5 pairs of horse boots, the Zone 16 team jumped through the slushy ground and around the large technical tracks, designed to challenge the most experienced riders and horses. After many rails, refusals and unlucky falls of many competitors, Zone 16 produced some very impressive results, placing across the board against some very tough competition and difficult conditions. WELL DONE EVERYONE!

15 and under 17 age group:
Ellie Miller (CRC) placed 1st and 6th in the AM5 classes and 5th OVERALL in the age group
Shannon Breen (CRC) placed 7th in the Grand Prix, 10th in the Power and Speed and 8th and 9th in the AM5 classes and 8th OVERALL in the age group
Sigi Schneider (Burra District) placed 4th in the Power and Speed
Lara Polkinhorne (Canberra Lakes) placed 10th in the Grand Prix

Associates:
Rachel French (Bungendore) placed 8th in the AM5, 10th in the Grand Prix and 4th in Power and Speed and 8th OVERALL in the age group
